Mayurbhanj, Mar 21: A school warden was killed while the headmistress sustained critical injuries after being attacked by unidentified miscreants near a school in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district late on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sanyasi Das, a resident of Dhanapal under Badasahi police station.
According to reports, the attack occurred close to the school premises, leaving both victims critically injured. They were immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Despite medical efforts, the warden succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
While Sanyasi died during undergoing treatment, the headmistress, who sustained serious injuries, remains hospitalised and is currently under medical supervision. Her condition is reported to be critical but stable.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear.
Eyewitnesses have suggested that the assault appeared sudden and unprovoked, though police have not ruled out personal enmity or other disputes.
