Bhadrak, Feb 5: A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a tractor near Kumarpur bus stand under Basudevpur block in Bhadrak district.
The deceased has been identified as Biswajit Malik, a resident of Mandari.
According to reports, Biswajit and another companion were traveling to their uncle’s house on a motorcycle when the tractor rammed into them. The impact was severe, leading to Biswajit’s death at the scene, while the other rider sustained serious injuries.
Locals immediately rushed the injured man to Basudevpur Medical for treatment.
Following the accident, tension gripped the area as local residents staged a road blockade at the accident site, demanding compensation for the victim’s family. Protesters set tyres ablaze on the road, disrupting traffic movement and drawing attention to their demands.
Police officials reached the spot soon after receiving information and engaged in discussions with the agitated crowd to restore normalcy.
Authorities assured that appropriate steps would be taken and an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
