Ganjam, Sep 21: A youth from Bihar went missing after being swept away by strong sea currents while bathing at Dhabaleswar Beach in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Abhishek Ranjan, along with his three friends had arrived in Odisha for the Agniveer recruitment exam, a nationwide military selection process. After the exam, the group visited the beach and were taking bath when Abhishek was pulled into deeper waters by a sudden surge of currents.

His friends raised an alarm, and emergency services were immediately alerted.

Rescue teams have since launched a search operation using boats and life-saving equipment, but the youth remained untraced.

Local authorities have urged visitors to exercise caution near coastal areas, especially during post-monsoon swells.
