Bhubaneswar, Jan 7: Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, is reeling under an intense cold wave as dry, chilly winds continue to sweep across the state. Over the past three days, the city has witnessed a sharp fall in temperature, leaving residents shivering in the bone-chilling cold.

According to records taken at 5:30 AM, the mercury has dropped by 7.2°C within three days:

- January 4: 18.6°C

- January 5: 18.0°C

- January 6: 15.4°C

- January 7 (today): 11.4°C

The sudden dip has made mornings particularly harsh, with foggy conditions and biting winds adding to the discomfort. Meteorologists attribute the fall to the continuous inflow of dry, cold air from northern India.

Residents are bundling up in woollens, while roadside tea stalls and heaters have become the city’s hotspots. Authorities have advised people, especially the elderly and children, to take precautions against the severe cold.
