Bhubaneswar, Sep 24: In a major breakthrough, Police on Wednesday arrested the driver of the Thar, who was on the run in the sensational hit-and-run case at Patrapada on August 9.

The accused, identified as Somnath Behera, has been arrested from Puri.

Earlier, the police had arrested four persons in connection with the case.

As per the case details, Rebati Raul along with her 8-year-old daughter Reshma Raul and son was returning home when the speeding Thar hit them from behind and fled the spot. In the incident, Reshma died on the spot, while Rebati succumbed to her injuries at the hospital on August 11. However, her 3-year-old son has survived the incident.

Soon after the incident, police launched a probe into the incident and seized the Thar vehicle involved in the fatal crash. However, the main accused, Somnath Behera, was on run.
