Puri, Oct 14: The Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain out of bounds for devotees for four hours tomorrow due to the Banakalagi niti of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra.
As per temple administration, darshan will remain closed from 6 PM to 10 PM in the evening.
Banakalagi Niti, also known as Shrimukha Sringara, is a sacred ritual performed at the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha. This ceremony involves repainting the idols of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra with natural paints derived from rare forest products to refresh their divine appearances.
Natural colours like Hingula, Haritala, Kasturi, Keshar, and the glue of Kaintha are used to prepare a Banaka.
During this time, only servitors and authorized personnel will be allowed inside the sanctum.
