Kolkata, Oct 11: A second-year student from Odisha was allegedly gang-raped outside a private medical college in West Burdwan district's Durgapur on Friday night.

While a case regarding the incident has been registered, no arrests have been made so far.

According to reports, the victim, a resident of Jaleswar in Odisha, is a student of a private medical college in West Burdwan district's Durgapur. She along with her friend had left the college premises to eat outside.

In the complaint, it is alleged that the miscreants chased the victim and her friend and later started harassing them. While the victim's friend managed to escape from the spot, she was dragged to a nearby forest where the miscreants outraged her modesty.

The miscreants then took away the mobile phone of the victim and fled away.

Soon after the incident, the college authorities filed a complaint with the police and informed the family members.

Reportedly, the victim is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

While an investigation into the incident is underway, the identities of the accused are yet to be known.
