Ranchi, Feb 22: A powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast rocked the dense Saranda forest during an anti-Naxal search operation, leaving two Cobra commandos critically injured.
The incident occurred when security forces were conducting a combing operation in the area, known to be a stronghold of Maoist insurgents.
According to reports, the IED was planted by suspected Naxal operatives to target patrolling teams. The explosion caused severe injuries to two personnel of the elite Cobra battalion, a specialised force trained for counter-insurgency operations.
Immediate evacuation measures were taken, and the injured jawans were airlifted by helicopter to Ranchi for advanced medical treatment.
Following the blast, security forces intensified combing operations in and around the site to flush out insurgents and secure the region.
