Lucknow, Oct 25: At least five persons were killed while three others sustained critical injuries after a speeding car ran over them near Nagla Budhi area in Uttar Pradesh's Agra.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the driver, of a Tata Nexon car, lost control over the wheels and rammed into a bike and then a divider. Later, it ran over a group of people standing on the roadside.

The impact of the crash was so intense that it left the car in a mangled wreck.

While Babli (33), Bhanu Pratap (25), Kamal (23), Krishna (20), and Bantesh (21) died on the spot, the injured people were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Soon after the accident, angered locals, pulled the driver out of the vehicle and thrashed him.

Later, police reached the scene and took the accused driver into custody.

A case has been registered and further a probe into the incident is underway.
