Bengaluru, April 22: A disturbing case of murder has come to light from the city Anjanapura area, where a 27 year old woman allegedly set her boyfriend on fire after inviting him home under the pretext of a surprise proposal.
The accused, identified as Prerna, and the victim Kiran were colleagues at a telecom store and had been in a relationship for over a year.
According to the sources, the relationship had recently become strained, with frequent disagreements over marriage and personal issues.
On Tuesday morning, Prerna reportedly called Kiran to her residence when no other family members were present. After a brief interaction, she allegedly blindfolded him and tied him to a chair, claiming it was part of special surprise.
She poured a flammable substance on him and set him ablaze. The victim died on the spot due to severe burn injuries, sources said.

Investigators suspect that the accused recorded the incidence on the mobile.
Deputy Commissioner of Police D.L. Nagesh confirmed that the accused woman has been taken into custody.
During interrogation, she allegedly confessed to the crime, stating she was upset of being ignored and his unwillingness to commit to marriage.
A case of murder has been registered and further investigation is underway.
