New Delhi, Jan 3: A major mishap was averted when a Buddha Air turboprop aircraft carrying 55 people veered off the runway while landing at Bhadrapur Airport in eastern Nepal.
The ATR 72-500 aircraft, operating flight number 9N-AMF from Kathmandu, was carrying 51 passengers and four crew members.
According to officials, the plane skidded off the runway moments after touchdown, triggering panic among those onboard. Fortunately, all passengers and crew escaped without injury.
Buddha Air confirmed the incident and stated that technical and relief teams were dispatched from Kathmandu to assist at the site. The airline also assured that safety protocols were followed and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the runway excursion.
