Mumbai, Dec 9: An evening walk turned nearly fatal for a 79-year-old woman in South Mumbai after her sudden disappearance. But thanks to a GPS tracker hidden in her necklace by her thoughtful grandson, following which, her family was able to find her in time, alive though injured.

According to reports, on the evening of December 3, the woman, identified as Saira Bi Tajuddin Mulla left her home for her routine walk in Mumbai. During this, she was knocked down by a two-wheeler in Sewree area. She was then rescued and rushed to the civic-run KEM hospital by some pedestrians, said officials.

Fortunately, a small GPS tracker fitted inside her necklace by her grandson, Mohammed Wasim Ayub Mulla, proved crucial in locating her. Using the device, the family traced her to KEM Hospital in Parel, barely 5 km from Sewree.

Upon being traced, the family members rushed to the hospital and found Saira.
