New Delhi, Jan 1: The New Year has begun with higher fuel costs for India’s hospitality and services sector, as prices of 19‑kg commercial LPG cylinders were increased by Rs 111 across major cities.
The revision, implemented by Indian Oil Corporation, applies only to commercial cylinders, leaving domestic LPG prices unchanged. This offers partial relief to households but raises concerns for hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and catering businesses that rely heavily on commercial LPG.
Following the hike, the price of a 19‑kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has climbed to Rs 1,691.50, up from Rs 1,580.50.

In Kolkata, rates rose to Rs 1,795 from Rs 1,684, while in
Mumbai the cylinder now costs Rs 1,642.50 compared with Rs 1,531.50 earlier.
Chennai saw one of the sharpest increases, with prices moving up to Rs 1,849.50
from Rs 1,739.50.

Industry watchers note that the hike reverses modest cuts seen in November and December 2025, and warn that higher fuel costs could translate into increased menu prices, adding pressure on consumers already facing rising expenses.
