Thrissur, Oct 21: A 19-year-old man was arrested after his reckless driving led to a serious accident involving a senior citizen in Thrissur, Kerala. The incident occurred near Puthukad on National Highway 544 around 8 a.m. on Saturday.
According to reports, the accused, identified as Emmanuel—a nursing student from Bengaluru—was riding a two-wheeler when he jumped a traffic signal and struck a 68-year-old woman named Selin, who was attempting to cross the road.
Following the incident, the victim sustained a head injury. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Taking note of the reports, police registered a case and initiated a probe into the incident.

As a part of the investigation, police scanned nearly 50 CCTVs to zero in on the suspect.
The breakthrough came from surveillance video aboard a bus, which revealed the registration number of the bike. This led police to Emmanuel, who was subsequently taken into custody.
A team led by Station House Officer Adam Khan and Sub-Inspector N. Pradeep carried out the arrest.
