Malkangiri, Oct 21: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan lost his life while six others sustained critical injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident on Odisha-AP border late last night. 

The deceased security personnel has been identified as Gaurav Pandey of Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, the incident occurred when an Innova car, carrying six personnel, reportedly collided with a culvert near Chinturu while heading towards Balimela in Odisha's Malkangiri. The personnel, all hailing from North India, were returning after a month-long holiday to their base camp.

The impact of the crash resulted in the death of one BSF jawan, while several others sustained serious injuries.

On being informed, police rushed to the scene and rushed the injured personnel to the government hospital in Chinturu for treatment.

Later, all injured jawans were transferred to Bhadrachalam for further medical care.

Officials are investigating the cause of the accident, and security forces have been deployed to assist with recovery and support for the affected personnel.
