‘I Am Trapped’: Final Messages Surface In Twisha Sharma Death Probe, Retired Judge’s Family Under Scanner
WhatsApp Chats Reveal Distress: 'My Life Has Become A Living Hell,' Twisha Wrote Days Before Death

Key Points

Twisha Sharma (MBA graduate, former Miss Pune) was found hanging at her Bhopal matrimonial home on May 12; family alleges prolonged mental and physical harassment, dowry pressure. She was two months pregnant.
Bhopal, May 19: The death of Twisha Sharma at her matrimonial home in Bhopal has triggered a major controversy, with her family accusing her husband and in-laws of prolonged mental and physical abuse, dowry harassment and attempting to influence the investigation.

Twisha, who was around two months pregnant, was found hanging at her home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on the night of May 12. According to her in-laws, she was found hanging from an exercise rod installed on the terrace of the house.

Twisha had married Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth Singh, son of retired sessions judge Giribala Singh, in December 2025 after the two reportedly met through a dating application in 2024.

While police are probing the matter as a suspected su*cide, Twisha’s family has alleged foul play and claimed she was under severe emotional distress in the months leading up to her death.

CCTV Footage Emerges
According to police, Twisha was found hanging at her matrimonial home late on May 12. Her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law Giribala Singh reportedly rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Police said they received information about the case from the hospital authorities around 11 pm. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.

Officials said Twisha had remained in contact with her family till around 10 pm that night. Her relatives alleged she wanted to leave Bhopal and return to Noida shortly before her death.

Meanwhile, CCTV footage accessed by media reportedly showed Twisha walking towards the rooftop shortly before the incident and later being carried downstairs by her husband and two others.

Dowry Case Registered, SIT Constituted
Following complaints by Twisha’s family, police registered a case against her husband and mother-in-law under provisions related to dowry death and dowry harassment under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police have also announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to the arrest of Samarth Singh.

A six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate multiple angles in the case, including allegations of dowry harassment, physical assault and possible destruction of evidence.

Twisha’s family has demanded a second post-mortem examination and a court-monitored probe, alleging that injury marks were found on her body.

Family Alleges Prolonged Harassment
Twisha’s family accused her husband and in-laws of sustained mental and physical harassment after marriage.

According to the family, she was allegedly pressured over employment issues and her pregnancy. They claimed Twisha had repeatedly expressed fear and emotional distress in the weeks preceding her death.

The family initially refused to conduct her last rites and demanded strict action against the accused.

They also staged a protest outside the residence of Mohan Yadav, demanding that Twisha’s body undergo a fresh post-mortem examination at AIIMS Delhi.

During the protest, Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma alleged that officials from the Chief Minister’s Office assured the family of fair action after meeting them.

He also demanded that Twisha’s body be preserved properly for the proposed second post-mortem.

Allegations Of Influence In Probe
The case drew further attention after Twisha’s father alleged that the accused family was using its legal background and influence to secure relief from courts.

Retired judge Giribala Singh secured anticipatory bail on Friday, while Samarth Singh’s anticipatory bail plea was rejected by a Bhopal court.

Questioning the grant of anticipatory bail, Twisha’s father alleged that the accused family was using influence to weaken the legal process.

WhatsApp Chats Become Key Evidence
WhatsApp conversations accessed by media reportedly revealed that Twisha had been sharing details of her distress with her mother.

In one message sent days before her death, she allegedly wrote, “Mujhe bahut zyada ghutan ho rahi hai maa” (I feel suffocated, mother).

The chats suggested that she felt emotionally trapped in the marriage and repeatedly wanted to return home.

According to reports, on April 30, she had questioned her mother about why she had been sent to Bhopal. She also allegedly complained that her husband barely spoke to her after one airport visit.

In other messages, she reportedly wrote:

“I am extremely distressed... these people are despicable. They are suspicious of me. Samarth asks whose child I am carrying. My life has become a living hell.”

Investigators are reportedly treating these chats as important evidence in the ongoing probe.

Last Conversation With Friend
Twisha’s final known conversation was reportedly with her friend Minakshi on Instagram shortly before her death.

According to details accessed by media, she allegedly wrote:

“I am trapped, bro. Bas tu mat phasna. Can't talk much. I'll call when the time is right.”

Her friend reportedly responded expressing concern and support. The next day, Twisha was found dead.

In-Laws Reject Allegations
In her anticipatory bail application, Giribala Singh denied allegations made by Twisha’s family and instead claimed that Twisha had issues related to narcotic substance dependence and emotional instability.

She alleged that Twisha died by su*cide around 10 pm on May 12 by hanging herself from iron rods on the terrace.

During a press conference after her son’s bail plea was rejected, Giribala Singh further claimed that Twisha had consumed abortion pills despite objections from the family.

The bail plea also alleged that Twisha displayed symptoms such as trembling hands, irritability and mood swings whenever she was unable to consume narcotic substances.

According to the plea, these behavioural patterns were noticed several times between December 2025 and May 2026.

Twisha’s family, however, strongly denied all such allegations.

Who Was Twisha Sharma?
Twisha Sharma was an MBA graduate from Noida who had built a career in marketing and communications before marriage.

She had reportedly worked in Delhi for several years and was also associated with beauty pageants and films.

Twisha was a former Miss Pune and had appeared in the Telugu film Mugguru Monagallu.

According to reports citing an unverified LinkedIn profile, she described herself as a marketing professional with experience in the restaurant industry and had interests in acting, filmmaking and regional cinema.

She also identified herself as a certified yoga trainer and Vipassana meditator.
