Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 24: In a tragic incident, a private Volvo bus travelling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire after an accident, resulting in the deaths of several passengers.

Police suspect that the blaze began after the bus collided with a two-wheeler. After the collision, the two-wheeler got trapped beneath the bus, igniting sparks.

So far, the facts are as follows:

The bus was taking 40 passengers to Bengaluru when it collided with a two-wheeler. The two-wheeler got stuck under the belly of the bus, causing a spark, the police suspect.

Soon after the incident, the driver fled the scene.

Eleven people died in the accident.

After noticing the fire, around 19 passengers smashed the windows of the air-conditioned bus and jumped out.

“Those who managed to break the glass survived,” said Vikrant Patil, Superintendent of Police, Kurnool.

Rescue teams have confirmed that 19 people were saved and are currently receiving medical treatment. Efforts are underway to locate missing passengers and identify the deceased.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and while rescue teams continues effort to locate missing individuals and identify the deceased.
