Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh), Oct 24: Several people are feared dead after a volvo bus caught fire following a collision with a two-wheeler near Chinna Tekuru village in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district in the early hours of Friday.

According to reports, the bus was travelling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru with 40 people on board. However, the driver of the vehicle lost control over the wheels and collided with a bike. Within minutes, the blaze engulfed the entire vehicle, trapping several passengers inside.

While some people managed to escape through windows, others were charred to death.

Soon after the incident, police along with fire tenders were pressed in service.

Rescue and firefighting operations continued till morning, and the exact toll will be confirmed once the situation is fully assessed, said a senior official.

The bus had began its journey from Hyderabad around midnight and when it reached near Kurnool on National Highway 44 (NH-44), at around 3:30am, it met with an accident with a two-wheeler, he added.
