Earthquake In Bangladesh Jolts Kolkata: 5.2 Magnitude Tremors Felt

Kolkata, Nov 21: Residents of Kolkata experienced mild tremors on Friday morning after a 5.2‑magnitude earthquake struck near the Ghorashal area in Bangladesh at around 10:08 am.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the epicenter of the quake was located in Bangladesh, close to the India-Bangladesh border.

The tremors were felt across parts of Kolkata and adjoining districts, causing momentary panic among residents.

Witnesses reported that buildings shook lightly, and people in some offices and residential complexes stepped outside as a precaution.

However, there have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the tremors. Authorities have assured that monitoring is underway and urged citizens not to panic.

Earthquakes of this magnitude are not uncommon in the region, which lies in a seismically active zone.
