Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: Cyclone, ‘Senyar’, has formed over the Bay of Bengal, near the Malacca Strait region in northeastern Indonesia and is likely to cross Indonesian coastline today.
According to reports, the system, that developed over Strait of Malacca intensified into a deep depression and further into a cyclonic storm on Wednesday morning. It is is expected to cross the Indonesian coastline by today.
The system had moved nearly westwards through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning with a speed of 10 kmph, and is likely to continue to move in a west-northwestwards direction. It is likely to cross the Indonesia coast before noon make landfall today. The system will maintain the intensity of a cyclonic storm for the next 24 hours, and then gradually weaken, as per the IMD.
Meteorological authorities are closely monitoring the cyclone’s movement and its potential impact on coastal areas.
