Calamity / Two Cyclonic Systems Brewing In Bay of Bengal; IMD Predicts No Impact On Odisha

Key Points
Odisha to remain dry for next seven days.
Temperatures to drop by 2–3°C, mild winter ahead.
Bhubaneswar,
Nov 25: The Bay of Bengal is currently witnessing the formation of two
low-pressure systems, raising concerns about possible cyclonic activity and
heavy rainfall in eastern India. However, the India Meteorological Department
(IMD) on Tuesday predicted that Odisha will not face any direct impact from
these systems.
The state of
Odisha is expected to remain largely dry over the next week, with only cloudy
skies and isolated light showers in some areas, according to the IMD.
First Low-Pressure System
A well-marked low-pressure area has developed over the South Andaman Sea. According to IMD forecasts, it is likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a depression within the next 24 hours. Further strengthening could lead to its transformation into a cyclonic storm over the southeast Bay of Bengal. Despite this development, Odisha is not expected to experience significant rainfall.
Second Low-Pressure System
Another low-pressure system has formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal near the Comorin region, extending towards southern Sri Lanka and the equatorial Indian Ocean. Meteorologists predict that this system will also intensify into a depression in the coming days.

Odisha to Stay Dry
Despite these weather systems, Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Director Manorama Mohanty said that neither will exert a direct impact on Odisha. The state is expected to experience relatively stable conditions over the next seven days. Some regions may witness cloudy skies or isolated light showers, but widespread rainfall is unlikely.
Temperature Trends
While
rainfall is unlikely, temperatures are expected to dip slightly. IMD predicted
a fall of 2–3 degrees Celsius from tomorrow, bringing back a mild winter chill
across the state.
IMD forecast that dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput and Sundargarh till tomorrow morning, IMD said. A yellow weather warning has been issued for these two districts during the next 24 hours.
