Administration / Ayodhya Admin Bans Non‑Veg Deliveries Within Ram Temple's 15km Radius

Ayodhya, Jan 10: The Ayodhya administration has imposed a ban on the delivery of non‑vegetarian food items within a 15‑km radius of the Ram temple, officials confirmed on Friday.


The move comes after repeated complaints that online food delivery platforms were supplying non‑veg items in areas designated under the sacred Panchkosi Parikrama.


Authorities also noted that some hotels and homestays in Ayodhya were serving non‑vegetarian food and alcoholic drinks to guests. A strict warning has been issued to establishments, directing them to refrain from such practices.


The decision follows an earlier order by the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation in May 2025, which prohibited the sale of liquor and meat along the 14‑km Ram Path connecting Ayodhya and Faizabad. While meat shops along the stretch were removed, locals reported that liquor sales continued largely unchecked, with more than two dozen outlets still operating.

Responding to concerns over the delay in enforcement, a municipal officer stated that while the civic body had acted against meat shops, district administration authorisation was required to take action against liquor vendors.


The latest directive underscores the administration’s efforts to strengthen religious sanctity around the Ram temple and ensure compliance with existing bans.
