A young man there consumes not one or two, but hundreds of live insects every day. His name is Carlos, and he lives in Chicago. Carlos says that live insects are not just food for him, but his favourite food. He prefers to eat at least 100 live insects daily. According to Carlos, he enjoys the taste of insects and compares them to buttered popcorn.
The 26-year-old recently appeared on TLC’s popular show My Strange Addiction, where he shocked viewers by eating live insects and crabs on camera. During the show, he compared crabs to vegetables and described them as delicious. According to the New York Post, Carlos’s unusual habit has attracted significant attention. He claims that the inside of crabs tastes like custard.
Carlos also says he enjoys the sensation of insects crawling inside his stomach. He describes the feeling of them moving on his tongue and the soft tickling in his throat as a unique pleasure that no other food can provide.

Reports suggest Carlos is currently unemployed but spends heavily on his habit. His partner worries that he is not only risking his health but also wasting money. On the show, Carlos was seen spending up to $8 daily at an insect shop to buy edible bugs and cockroaches, making it a regular expense.
Carlos explains that his interest in eating insects began in childhood. He recalls being fascinated by them since the age of four, and over time, this interest has turned into an obsession. Now, he consumes about 100 live insects every day.
When asked why he eats insects, Carlos gives a peculiar answer: he feels as though he is controlling their fate when he eats them.
