Berlin/New Delhi, Jan 2: A 25-year-old Indian student tragically lost his life in a fire accident in Germany late Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as -- Thokala Hruthik Reddy, a 25-year-old native of Malkapur village in Jangaon district. Hruthik had travelled to Germany in June 2023 to pursue a master's degree at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences in Magdeburg.
According to preliminary information, a major fire broke out on the night of December 31 at the apartment where Hruthik was staying in Brandenburg, near Berlin. The blaze reportedly spread rapidly, filling the entire building with smoke and flames. With no clear escape route available, Hruthik reportedly jumped from an upper floor in an attempt to flee the fire.
Following the incident, Hruthik sustained critical head injuries.

✨Later, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
The incident has cast a shadow of grief over what was meant to be a time of celebration, leaving his family and friends devastated. Authorities in Berlin are investigating the cause of the fire, while arrangements are being made to repatriate his body to India.
Hruthik's parents-- Thokala Sampath Reddy and Karuna—along
with his younger sister, Sahasra, have been informed about the accident. His
family had been eagerly awaiting his return home for the Sankranti festival,
which was planned for mid-January.

Authorities in Germany are investigating the cause of the fire. Reports suggest that illegal fireworks may have triggered the fire, but the exact reason remains under inquiry.
The family has reached out to the Ministry of External
Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Embassy in Germany, seeking help in completing
legal formalities.
