Mumbai, Jan 26: Mumbai Police arrested an actor for allegedly raping his domestic help over a period of nearly 10 years on the pretext of marriage, a source said on Monday.
The accused, identified as Nadeem Khan, was arrested on January 22 following a complaint filed by a 41-year-old woman. Khan was recently seen in the blockbuster film Dhurandhar and is currently in police custody, the source added.
According to the complaint, the woman had been working as a domestic help for various actors and came into contact with Khan several years ago. The two allegedly became close over time.
The woman alleged that Khan promised to marry her and, on that assurance, subjected her to repeated rapes over the past decade. She claimed the alleged assaults took place at her residence in the Malwani area and at Khan’s house in Versova, both located in Mumbai’s western suburbs.
However, Khan later refused to marry her, and she approached the Versova police with a complaint.
As the alleged assault took place for the first time at the complainant's house in the jurisdiction of Malvani police, and the victim resides in that area, the Versova police have transferred the case on a zero FIR, the official said.
