Mumbai, May 29: Debatable comedian and content creator Samay Raina has once again piqued the interest of his fans with a new update regarding the much-awaited second season of his popular YouTube show, 'India’s Got Latent'.

The show was axed last year amid a huge furore, but has continued to be one of the most discussed comedy formats on social media. After months of speculation about the future of the show, Samay has now confirmed that work on the new season is well underway.

The comedian announced on Instagram Thursday the revival of one of his favourite chess tournaments, describing it as a nostalgic move “for old times’ sake.” While many followers liked the update, several fans flooded his inbox about India’s Got Latent Season 2 and asking for clarity on when the show would finally be back.

Samay, in his usual humorous style, responded with a meme from his stand-up special 'Still Alive' and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look from the upcoming season. Sharing a picture from the sets, he wrote, “Uski bhi shooting chal rahi hai dostoooo,” confirming that the shooting of the show is happening at the moment. In the picture, Samay was holding a microphone with comedian Balraj Ghai standing behind him. The rest of the panel members were deliberately concealed, perhaps to build up anticipation for the guest list. However, fans were quick to spot comedian, Aashish Solanki making a partial cameo in the frame.

Highlighting, this is not the first leak related to the new season. Earlier this month, a picture from the sets went viral online. It showed actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari seated next to Balraj Ghai and Aashish Solanki. The image sparked speculation that the Bollywood stars might appear as guests in the upcoming season. However, neither the production team nor the actors have confirmed these rumors yet.

In February 2025, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia appeared on India Got Latent season 1 with Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija. During the episode, some comments made by Ranveer about parents led to significant backlash online, causing outrage across social media platforms, marking the episode a turning point for the show.

Numerous apologies from the parties involved have been issued in response to the multiple lawsuits that have been filed against the people involved, as well as against the show itself. As a result of posting on social media, there were death threats and threats of rape directed towards Apoorva, Ranveer and Samay, intensifying the situation, leading to restrictions being placed on Ranveer’s podcast channel and ultimately all episodes of India’s Got Latent were taken down from YouTube.

In March, the Supreme Court allowed Ranveer Allahbadia to resume posting episodes of his podcast and Samay Raina returned to the comedy stage to perform in front of a live audience for the first time since the controversy discussing the impact it had on him emotionally, as well as discussing the way it has changed the lives of his family as a result of these events.

During a broadcast of a live comedy show, the host Samay announced that he is officially going to be hosting Season 2 of his reality comedy series, India's Got Latent. This announcement resulted in a loud and emotional response from the audience.

Filming for Season 2 of India's Got Latent has already begun, and as more celebrity guests become known, fans are looking forward to the show's return.
