Amitabh Bachchan's health concerns have temporarily halted Kaun Banega Crorepati shoots, forcing the channel to air celebrity specials. The megastar recently reflected on recovery, routine, memory and fans in a heartfelt blog.

Mumbai, Nov 7: Fresh episodes of Kaun Banega Crorepati have remained off-air for the past week as production hit an unexpected pause amid concerns over host Amitabh Bachchan's health.

Sources told IANS that the makers have temporarily suspended shooting schedules, prompting the channel to rely on previously recorded celebrity specials to keep the long-running quiz show on air.

The source revealed that one of the last major celebrity episodes filmed before production was halted featured Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey, who appeared on the show to promote their upcoming film Ramayan.

The episode had originally been planned to coincide with the film’s release. However, Bachchan’s health concerns forced the makers to revise their plans.

Instead of holding back the episode, the channel chose to launch its Diwali special week with the Ramayan cast episode. The move ensured fresh content for viewers while regular shooting remained suspended.

Production is now expected to resume next week, provided Bachchan’s condition improves sufficiently. “The shoot will resume hopefully from next week but only if his health allows,” the source said.

Amid the temporary break, Bachchan recently offered a glimpse into his recovery through a blog post, reflecting on his gradual return to work and normal life.

“... and the gentle but slow return to routine and the controlled life... OF WORK... and the others. When in routine you remember the routine... when not... even routine develops a temperament .. not explainable .. and never the same...,” he wrote.

The actor also shared thoughts on ageing and memory, noting how recent events often fade while distant memories remain vivid.

“Oh ! where did I leave my glasses .. the mobile .. and most importantly .. what was I supposed to do next... the deeds and acts done just a couple of hours ago .. lost in oblivion .. but what Class 8 was like in School 1960 at your finger-tips .. 66 years at the back of your hand .. and now .. a searching! But ..”

Despite these reflections, Bachchan emphasised that his connection with fans and viewers remains as strong as ever.

“Never a searching for the connect on Blog .. that be the preference .. each day... nor, the well wishers of each Sunday... nor, the KBC audience , who extend love affection and the sincerity of their warmth and endearing presence... my prayers for all.”

Bachchan’s health has long been closely followed by fans, particularly since the life-threatening accident he suffered on the sets of Coolie in 1982. During a fight sequence with actor Puneet Issar, a mistimed blow caused severe abdominal injuries, leading to multiple surgeries and sparking nationwide concern. The actor has often credited the prayers and support of millions of well-wishers for his recovery and refers to August 2, the day he returned home after the accident, as his “second birthday”.
