Mumbai, Nov 6: Mumbai was placed on alert after a bomb threat targeting multiple high-profile locations, including Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan's bungalow Jalsa, the Bombay High Court and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

A threat e-mail was received by the Bombay High Court, warning of possible bomb attacks at the three locations as well as the Worli Racecourse.

Following the threat, Mumbai Police launched an investigation to identify the sender. Security agencies have also been alerted, and security measures have been stepped up at the locations mentioned in the e-mail.

This is the second recent threat incident in which Bachchan has been named. On October 22, a threat e-mail sent to a school in Mumbai reportedly mentioned the veteran actor. Authorities had clarified at the time that Bachchan had not received any direct threat.

Amid the security concerns, Bachchan's customary Sunday appearance outside his Mumbai residence took an unusual turn when he stood behind a protective glass shield, accompanied by his son, Abhishek Bachchan.

The incident prompted the All Indian Cine Workers Association to seek Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention, citing concerns over the safety of Bollywood actors and their families.

The latest threat comes amid a series of incidents raising security concerns around celebrities. On October 18, shots were fired at actor Tiger Shroff's car, an incident claimed by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Actors Tusshar Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana also reportedly received threats in the name of the Bishnoi gang earlier this week. Police are investigating the authenticity of the threat recordings.

In connection with the threats to Kapoor and Khurrana, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested a 30-year-old Bengaluru-based IT engineer on Wednesday. Preliminary investigations have reportedly found no evidence linking him to the Bishnoi gang.
