The show, known for its vibrant musical jugalbandis and celebration of original music, features a diverse lineup of singers, including Marathi talents like Radhika Bhide and Rohit Raut.
Mumbai, Nov 18: Abhijeet Sawant, the winner of the inaugural season of Indian Idol, made a nostalgic yet refreshing return to the spotlight with a brand-new rendition of his iconic hit “Mohabbatein Lutaunga” on the pre-finale episode of the music reality show I Popstar.

The show, known for its vibrant musical jugalbandis and celebration of original music, features a diverse lineup of singers, including Marathi talents like Radhika Bhide and Rohit Raut.

Abhijeet joined the pre-finale as a guest performer, delivering a reimagined version of the song that first catapulted him to fame. “I got the chance to appear on I Popstar as a guest singer, and it turned out to be a beautiful and unforgettable experience,” said Abhijeet.

“This show is one of those rare platforms that truly promote original music in today’s era.”

He praised the young talent on the show, noting their creativity and musicality: “Seeing so many talented young musicians (not just singers) made me extremely happy. Their songwriting, presentation, and music were all exceptional. Having indie music stars and my fellow musician friends Parmeesh, Aditya, King, and Aastha mentoring them is a big thing in itself.”

Abhijeet shared that he has always aspired to perform on platforms that champion contemporary original music.

“And I Popstar is doing that brilliantly. Through this opportunity, I also got to perform Mohabbatein Lutaunga once again — but this time with a twist. Since this is a Gen Z-focused show, I created a brand-new version of Mohabbatein, and it went viral!”
