Bhawanipatna, Feb 18: Panic gripped residents of BBCpada in Bhawanipatna town after a late-night firing incident was reported close to the Hanuman Temple.

According to reports, the incident occurred when a group of youths, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, engaged in a heated argument that escalated into gunfire.

The matter came to light after some locals informed the police about the incident. Town police swiftly responded to the scene and detained three youths in connection with the incident.

During the operation, officers seized two pistols believed to have been used in the firing.

The suspects are currently being interrogated as part of an ongoing investigation.

According to preliminary information, the shooting stemmed from a minor verbal altercation among the intoxicated youths, which quickly turned violent. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, though the sudden gunfire created panic in the area.

Police have assured that strict action will be taken against those involved, and efforts are underway to determine how the accused obtained the firearms.

Authorities are also examining whether the weapons were licensed or illegally procured.
