Kandhamal, Mar 3: In a shocking incident, a school teacher in Kandhamal district has been accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl.

According to our source, the incident occurred when the teacher, identified as Kunu Bhoi of Kanibali School under Gochhapada police limits, allegedly lured the student under the pretext of attending a science fair.

On the way, he allegedly committed sexual assault. The victim’s family has alleged that the accused teacher repeatedly exploited the minor inside the school premises, with claims of at least six instances of physical abuse.

Following a formal complaint lodged by the family and local residents, Gochhapada police swiftly detained the accused teacher for interrogation. Authorities confirmed that he is currently in custody and being questioned.

Disturbingly, according to our source, this is not the first time allegations have been raised against him, with several prior complaints already on record.

The incident has triggered widespread anger among parents and guardians, who entrust teachers with the responsibility of shaping their children’s future. Local leaders, including the village sarpanch, have submitted written complaints to the police demanding strict action.

Earlier, a ragging case had come to light at Khunta PM Shri Government High School, where senior students allegedly subjected juniors to harassment and abuse in the school hostel.

According to reports, three seventh-grade hostel students were playing behind the hostel when they were confronted by two ninth-grade students. The seniors allegedly tied up the juniors outside the hostel premises, an incident that was recorded on video and has since surfaced publicly.

Witnesses claim that the three boys were tied up for a long duration in front of other hostel residents. When questioned, the victims stated that the punishment was meted out by two ninth-grade students.

Parents, who rushed to the school after viewing the video, were shocked to learn that not just three, but as many as eight to nine students had been tied up and beaten by seniors. The victims further revealed that such incidents had occurred previously as well, pointing to a pattern of ragging inside the hostel.
