Cuttack, Mar 3: Commissionerate Police has rolled out an extensive security plan to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration of Holi festival in Cuttack.
A total of 20 platoons of police force will be deployed
across sensitive areas of the Silver City. Patrolling will be intensified in
busy marketplaces, residential neighbourhoods, and riverbanks to prevent any
untoward incidents. Police presence along the riverfront is aimed at
discouraging large gatherings and ensuring that revellers do not engage in
unsafe activities after playing Holi.
Special attention will also be given to monitoring social
media platforms. Officials have confirmed that any attempt to spread misinformation
or incite disturbances online will be dealt with strictly. The police have
warned that those indulging in unruly behaviour during the festival will face
immediate action.

In a bid to curb drunk driving, Commissionerate Police will conduct rigorous checking at multiple points across the city. Motorists found violating traffic rules or driving under the influence will face strict penalties. Similarly, action will be taken against individuals playing loud music at high decibel levels, which often disturbs public peace during festive occasions.

In line with state directives, liquor shops will remain
closed during the festival to prevent alcohol-related disturbances. Authorities
have also appealed to citizens to celebrate responsibly and avoid venturing
into rivers after playing Holi, a practice that has previously led to
accidents. Cuttack DCP has urged residents to enjoy the festival with colours
and joy, but to prioritize safety above all.
