Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: Both gold and silver touching new all‑time highs amid strong global cues and robust investor demand. Gold rates continued their upward momentum today, recording a sharp rise across all purity levels and reflecting a strong bullish trend in the bullion market.

Silver too witnessed a sharp rise, supported by industrial demand and speculative buying, pushing prices to historic levels.

The price of gold in India today has reached Rs 1,78,850 per 10 grams for 24 karat gold, Rs 1,63,950 per 10 grams for 22 karat gold, and Rs 1,34,140 per 10 grams for 18 karat gold (also called 999 gold).

According to market updates, 24K gold climbed to Rs 17,885 per gram, marking an increase of Rs 1,177. Similarly, 22K gold rose by Rs 1,080 to reach Rs 16,395 per gram, while 18K gold registered a gain of Rs 883, now priced at Rs 13,414 per gram.

Silver prices surged to record levels on MCX, crossing Rs 4 lakh per kilogram for the first time. The price of silver in India today is Rs 4,100 per 10 grams, while per kilogram it stands at Rs 4,10,000.

The surge highlights renewed investor interest in the precious metal amid global economic uncertainties. Market experts note that 24‑karat gold, valued for its highest purity, is predominantly purchased for investment purposes, while 22‑karat and 18‑karat variants remain popular choices for jewellery making.

The consistent upward trend has boosted confidence among bullion traders and jewellers, though it also signals higher costs for consumers ahead of the wedding season. Analysts suggest that the rally may continue if international demand and domestic buying remain strong.
