India's Foreign Exchange Reserves See USD 3.7 Billion Dip After Scaling All-Time High

In the week ending on September 27, the forex reserves kitty rose USD 12.588 billion to USD 704.885 billion.

The reserves fell after having risen by nearly USD 35 billion in the last seven weeks.

This buffer of foreign exchange reserves helps insulate domestic economic activity from global shocks.

According to the latest data from the apex bank, India's foreign currency assets (FCA), the largest component of forex reserves, were at USD 612.643 billion.

The gold reserves are worth USD 65.756 billion, as per Friday's data.

As per estimates, India's foreign exchange reserves are now sufficient to cover over a year of projected imports.

In the calendar year 2023, India added about USD 58 billion to its foreign exchange reserves.

In contrast, India's forex reserves saw a cumulative decline of USD 71 billion in 2022. Forex reserves, or foreign exchange reserves (FX reserves), are assets held by a nation's central bank or monetary authority.

Foreign exchange reserves are generally held in reserve currencies, typically the US Dollar and, to a lesser extent, the Euro, Japanese Yen, and Pound Sterling.

The RBI closely monitors the foreign exchange markets and intervenes only to maintain orderly market conditions, aiming to contain excessive volatility in the exchange rate without reference to any pre-determined target level or band.

The RBI frequently intervenes in the market through liquidity management, including the sale of dollars, to prevent a steep depreciation of the rupee.

The RBI has been strategically buying dollars when the rupee is strong and selling when it is weak.

A less volatile rupee makes Indian assets more attractive to investors, as they can expect better performance with more predictability. (ANI)

Airport officials told IANS that ambulances and firefighters are ready at the airport for an emergency landing of the flight, due in 15 minutes.

Airport Director Gopalakrishnan said that 20 ambulances and 18 fire engines are in place at the airport for an emergency landing. He also said that all emergency landing protocols have been activated.

According to sources, there was a technical malfunction onboard an Air India flight from Trichy to Sharjah with 141 passengers on board.

The flight, which took off from Tiruchi airport at 5.40 p.m., faced hydraulic issues shortly after takeoff, causing the plane’s landing gear to malfunction and preventing the wheels from retracting. The pilot declared an emergency and initiated safety protocols, which included circling the Trichy airspace for over an hour to reduce the aircraft's fuel weight, a necessary step for a safe emergency landing.

All 141 passengers are reported to be safe, and Air India has assured that every measure is being taken to resolve the situation smoothly.

Tiruchi District Collector told media persons that the ambulances and fire tenders were kept ready as a standby and that the administration is ready for any emergency situation. (IANS)

In a video, the actress shared a behind-the-scenes moment from the song “Chuttamale” and was heard saying: “This might be the most life threatening moment… I am going into jellyfish infested waters. Nothing but a thin silk saree to protect me. I hope I survive, I hope it is worth it. I hope it is a memorable shot.”

In another slide, she showcased the “beware” sign as the water is infested with Jellyfish, whose stinging cells in their tentacles can injure humans.

In one clip, the actress was seen talking about climbing “really sharp rock” and then coming to the dangerous waters. The clips were of the shoot, the actress making sand-castles, going to the location in a jetty and taking a selfie with Janvi making a funny face at the camera.

For the caption, she wrote: “Too late for some #Chuttamale BTS? I think not.”

Talking about the next part of the movie, filmmaker Koratala Siva it will feature the actress more.

He said: "She can bring plenty of freshness into the movie and have multiple dimensions to her character which will be unfolded in part 2. There is a lot of drama for her and surprising twists & turns that could happen with her character.

"You will have to wait and watch part 2 to see more of Janhvi!" Siva said.
