Hezbollah militants launched about 35 rockets at northern Israel on Sunday, prompting another round of Israeli strikes, IDF said.

Jerusalem, March 10: Hezbollah militants launched about 35 rockets at northern Israel on Sunday, prompting another round of Israeli strikes, IDF said.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that the rockets were fired towards the Meron area in Upper Galilee. Seven of the launches were intercepted by Israel's air defense systems.

There were no immediate reports of casualties, Xinhua news agency reported.

Following the rockets, Israel launched an artillery attack at the towns of Habbariyeh and Kounine and southern Lebanon, Israel's Ynet news site reported.

Hezbollah assumed responsibility for the attack, saying in a statement that "dozens of rockets" were fired in response to a deadly Israeli airstrike on a house in the Khirbet Selm area on Saturday.

According to Lebanon's official National News Agency, at least five people, including four from the same family, were killed in the attack and nine were wounded.

According to the IDF, the airstrike on Khirbet Selm targeted a military structure in which Hezbollah militants were identified.

Also, overnight, Israeli warplanes struck Hezbollah infrastructure in the area of Ayta ash Shab, and an anti-tank missile launch post in the area of Maroun El Ras.

The violence was the latest in cross-border fighting between Israel and Hezbollah, which started on Oct. 7, following Hamas's surprise attack on Israel and the Israeli onslaught on Gaza.

Congress Announces Candidates For 2 Lok Sabha And 8 Assembly Seats In Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Apr 28: The Congress on Saturday announced the names of candidates for two more Lok Sabha constituencies and eight Assembly seats in Odisha.

The grand old party fielded Nagendra Pradhan, who joined the grand old party recently, from Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat and Suresh Mohapatra from Cuttack Lok Sabha constituency.

Earlier, the party had announced the name of Dulal Chandra Pradhan for the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat.

The Congress also announced eight assembly seats. The list of eight candidates are as follows.

Jaleswar: Debi Prasad Chand
Balasore: Monalisa Lenka
Barachana: Ajay Samal
Pallahara: Fakir Samal
Barabati-Cuttack: Sofia Fridous

The Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be held simultaneously in Odisha in four phases from May 13 to June 1.

Results for the Assembly and the Lok Sabha polls will be declared on June 4.

BJD Govt Establishing 'Babu Raj' In Odisha, Needs To Be Changed : BJP National President JP Nadda

Berhampur, Apr 28: BJP national president JP Nadda on Sunday said that the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government has been establishing a 'Babu Raj' in Odisha and time has come to change the 'inefficient' and 'corrupt' government in the upcoming general elections.

Addressing the Vijay Sankalp Samavesh at Ambapua in Berhampur, Nadda said the way Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has brought 'outsiders' in the governance system is a matter of concern for Odisha.

"An effort was made to thrust a man from outside Odisha on the people as head of the government after the ensuing Assembly elections,"

Nadda appealed the people to vote for the BJP candidates and make sure a 'Dharti Putra' (son of the soil) to lead the state.

The BJP president also said that people of Odisha have been deprived of the several welfare programmes introduced by the Narendra Modi government.

Naveen Patnaik government did not allow the centre's insurance scheme Ayushman Bharat to be implemented in the state for which around 10.74 lakh poor families, that is, 55 crore individuals have been deprived of the insurance scheme.

Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be held simultaneously in Odisha in four phases, starting from Phase One on May 13, Phase Two on May 20, Phase Three on May 25 and the final Phase on June 1. The results will be announced on June 4.

PM Modi Has Already Scored A Century In First Two Phases Of LS Polls: Amit Shah

Mainpuri, Apr 28: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had already scored a century of seats in the first two phases of Lok Sabha polls.

Polling in the first two of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections was held on April 19 and April 26.

Addressing a rally in Mainpuri, HM Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win all 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.

"The accounts of both the princes have not been opened. It is a choice to develop and prosper the country. Ram Mandir was constructed in five years. The Congress, Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party delayed Ram temple," he said.

HM Shah said that Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav did not go to Ram temple due to fear of the vote bank.

"This election is between those who opened fire on Ram devotees and those who built Ram temple," the Union Minister said.

"Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir even though the Congress said that it would not allow Article 370 to be removed. We gave a befitting reply to Pakistan with a surgical strike," HM Shah, addressing the rally, said.

"Tell me whether Kashmir is a part of India or not. When we removed Article 370, 'Rahul Baba' said that rivers of blood would flow but not even a pebble was moved during PM Modi's rule. Earlier there used to be terrorist attacks. PM Modi gave a befitting reply by carrying out surgical and air strikes."

The Home Minister said that "we are in support of reservation, and no one can remove reservation".

"We will not allow anyone to remove the reservation. The Opposition has opened a factory of lies. There was migration during the Samajwadi Party rule. PM Modi ended nepotism. Also, the 80 crore people of this country will continue to get free ration," HM Shah said while appealing to the people to defeat nepotism and make PM Modi win.

The former BJP president also said that PM Modi has brought 25 crore people out of the poverty line.

"They talk about backward people but when Kalyan Singh died, these people did not go to pay him respects. But they drove to Mukhtar Ansari's house. Will they respect the people of backward communities?" HM Shah wondered.(IANS)
