Sambalpur: BJP Releases 'Chargesheet' Against BJD Govt Over Mahanadi Issue

Akshay Tritiya is an auspicious festival of Hindus celebrated annually on the third lunar day of the month of Vaishakha.

As per rituals, farmers wearing new clothes carry a decorated basket of seeds to their fields and offer them to Goddess Lakshmi praying for a rich harvest season.

Considered highly significant in Shree Jagannath culture, Akshaya Tritiya also heralds the beginning of the construction of chariots for the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.

The festival also marks the beginning of the ‘Chandan Jatra’ of deities at several shrines in Odisha. The famous 'Thalutha' ritual of Sitalsasthi festival is also celebrated today.

Akshaya Tritiya is also observed as the State-Level Farmers’ Day in Odisha.

Addressing a public event in Lucknow, the Raksha Mantri clapped back at the Opposition over its divisive charge at the BJP, saying that his party practices the politics of 'nation-building' and not merely forming the government.

Invoking his RSS background, the BJP stalwart said, "I have never had any hesitation in saying that I am a Swayamsevak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). I can say with absolute confidence and conviction that the Sangh doesn't believe in separating Hindus from Muslims. For us, politics is about nation-building and is not merely intended at forming governments. There are those whose brand of politics is merely oriented towards forming governments using any means possible. However, we are not among them."

He said the BJP has taken the perceived crisis of confidence and credibility around those associated with politics as a challenge.
"There is a crisis of confidence and credibility around those in politics. This sense has permeated the national conscious and entrenched itself since independence. However, if there's anyone who has taken this crisis as a challenge and is fighting to restore the eroded public trust and credibility to those associated with politics, it is the BJP," Rajnath said.

He added that the country, which ranked 11th in terms of its GDP under the Congress-led UPA, was now the fifth-largest economy and poised to become the third-largest in the coming years.

"Between 2004 and 2014, when the Congress-led UPA was in power, we ranked 11th among global economies. However, within eight years since Narendra Modi took the country's reins as PM, our economy jumped from the 11th to the 5th position. And it is being said our economy will be the third-largest in the world, before long, if it keeps growing at its current pace," the Raksha Mantri said.

Also assuring the people that the country's borders were safe and secure, Rajnath said, "I urge the Opposition leaders to stop questioning or doubting the valour of our armed forces. When it comes to border or national security, all parties should rise above their differences and speak in one voice. We should stand together regardless of who is in power." (ANI)

The Sensex, the benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), surged 345.94 points, opening at 72,635.24, while the Nifty, representing the National Stock Exchange (NSE), rose 27.65 points, starting at 21,985.15.

Among the Nifty companies, 38 witnessed advances while 12 declined in the opening session. Notable gainers included BPCL, ITC, Hero MotoCorp, Axis Bank, and Bajaj-Auto, while Infosys, LTI Mindtree, Larsen & Toubro (LT), Grasim, and Apollo Hospitals were among the top losers.

Varun Aggarwal, founder and managing director, Profit Idea, said, "Technical analysis of the market suggests a possibility of further decline in the short term, with a crucial support level identified around 21,750 for the Nifty. Market analysts noted a concentration of Open Interest (OI) in Nifty put options at 21,500, indicating potential support. On the Call side, significant OI concentrations were observed at 22,200 and 22,300 levels, nearing all-time highs."

Meanwhile, Asian shares surged on Friday, buoyed by positive sentiment on Wall Street driven by favorable jobs data supporting the case for US rate cuts.

Equities in Japan, South Korea, Australia, and China recorded gains, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index reaching its highest level since September. US contracts remained largely flat after the S&P 500 index gained 0.5%, inching closer to its all-time high.

In the bond market, Treasury yields held steady following a successful USD 25 billion sale of 30-year US bonds. Emerging market currencies strengthened against the greenback.

In the commodities market, oil extended its gains for the third consecutive day, supported by key technical levels, while gold prices saw a modest increase following a notable jump on Thursday.

Overall, the positive momentum in the global markets coupled with the opening gains in the Indian stock market sets the stage for an interesting trading day ahead, with investors closely monitoring key technical levels and global developments for further cues.
