Bhubaneswar, July 8: Trouble seems to be mounting on singers Humane Sagar and Ruku Sona after an FIR was filed against the duo on Monday for allegedly mocking a timeless bhajan dedicated to Lord Jagannath.
Human rights activist Shiva Sundar Swain lodged a complaint at Capital Police station here accusing singers Humane Sagar and Ruku Sona of hurting the religious sentiment of Jagannath devotees by singing a Jagannath bhajan in an offensive tone.
According to the complaint, a video has gone viral recently in which the two singers can be seen using vulgar lyrics in place of the original lyrics of the popular Lord Jagannath Bhajan while the tune of the original song was imitated.
The two singers were also seen laughing out loud and having fun by singing the questionable version of the original devotional song, sung by Banikantha Nimai Charan Harichandan.
This mockery of the devotional song has hurt the religious sentiments of the devotees of Lord Jagannath, Swain alleged demanding stern action against both the singers.
Notably, the incident has taken place at a time when the Rath Yatra festival of Lord Jagannath and his siblings is celebrated in Odisha and abroad.
