Another disturbing incident has once again spotlighted the growing menace of rash driving, raising serious concerns over urban road safety and enforcement.
On Wednesday evening, a speeding black Thar SUV rammed into a two-wheeler parked along the Canal Road stretch under the jurisdiction of Laxmisagar Police Station.
However, the scooter rider narrowly escaped injury as he had stepped away just moments earlier.
According to sources, the two-wheeler had been parked along the roadside when the Thar mounted the pavement and ran over it, damaging the vehicle.
Soon after the incident, Laxmisagar Police reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

While a case into the incident was registered, the driver of the SUV Thar was taken into custody for further interrogation.
In a similar case on August 9, an eight-year-old girl and her mother were killed after a speeding Thar ran over them near Patrapada locality.
The incident sparked widespread public outrage, prompting authorities to suspend the driving licences of the accused. After an intensive 45-day search, the owner of the Thar SUV, Somnath Behera, was finally apprehended in Puri, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.
