Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: Odisha has reported an increase in its tiger population, according to preliminary findings from an internal survey conducted by the Forest Department.
The survey indicates that tiger numbers in Similipal Tiger Reserve have increased compared to last year, reflecting positive trends in wildlife conservation efforts.
Officials noted that the presence of tiger cubs has also been recorded, suggesting healthy breeding patterns within the reserve.
In Similipal, the number of tigers has risen from 27 to 32 this year. The survey also revealed the presence of two tiger cubs, compared to eight cubs recorded last year across the state.
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) stated that these figures emerged during the ongoing tiger census in the state.

While the official National Tiger Census Report, conducted once every four years, is expected to be released in June next year, the internal survey has already indicated positive growth in tiger numbers.
