Argus News - Man Charred To Death In Fire Mishap At Saheed Nagar Market

Bhubaneswar, Nov 14: In a heartbreaking incident, an elderly man lost his life after being trapped in a fire that broke out at the Saheed Nagar Market here on Friday morning.

According to initial reports, the blaze which began from an egg stall, swiftly extended to adjacent shops, causing widespread destruction.

Several shops were reduced to ashes before firefighters could bring the situation under control.

Tragically, an elderly man who had been sleeping inside one of the shops was unable to escape and died in the flames.

Locals attempted to rescue the victim, but their efforts were tragically hindered by the ferocity of the blaze.

Upon receiving information, police along with the fire tenders were swiftly reached the spot and took stock of the situation.

While police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire, a comprehensive assessment of the damage is currently underway.

On the other hand, the body of the elderly man has been seized and sent to a local hospital for post-mortem. 

The tragic incident has reignited serious concerns about the adequacy of fire safety measures in densely packed market areas like Saheed Nagar.
