Jajpur, Dec 2: A college student was killed after being hit by a speeding Hyva truck near Kurikana Chhak under Jenapur police station limits in Jajpur district.

 

According to reports, the deceased, identified as Sanjib Nayak, son of Shatrughna Nayak of Rampai village, was on his way to college on a motorcycle when he lost balance after hitting a speed breaker. Meanwhile, a speeding Hyva truck coming from behind ran over him, killing him instantly, resulting in his death on the spot.

 

Following the incident, villagers gathered at the spot and set four Hyva trucks ablaze in protest. The situation escalated into chaos, with locals creating an atmosphere of panic.

Reports also suggest that when media representatives attempted to capture visuals of the unrest, they were allegedly attacked by the mob, who even tried to snatch away mobile phones.

 

Soon, police forces were deployed to the scene to bring the situation under control. Investigations into the accident and subsequent violence are underway.
