IED Blast Tears Through Railway Track In Assam, Multiple Trains Diverted

Kokrajhar, Oct 23: A suspected improvised explosive device (IED) detonated on a railway track in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, causing significant damage and disrupting train services across Lower Assam and parts of North Bengal.

According to reports, the blast occurred approximately five kilometers from Kokrajhar railway station, near the Salakati route.

Officials confirmed that nearly three feet of the railway line was torn apart, scattering metal fragments across the area.

Fortunately, no casualties or derailments were reported.

Railway authorities immediately halted train movement on both up and down lines, leading to the diversion of several trains.

Services were gradually restored by morning after emergency repairs were carried out.

Security forces, including the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police, have launched an investigation into the incident.

Intelligence agencies are also involved, and security has been tightened in the region.
