The 36.6°C recorded on October 5 is the second-highest day temperature recorded in Puri in October in the available historical data. Earlier, the second-highest temperature had been recorded on October 4, 2024, when Puri recorded 36.3°C.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon withdrawal process is continuing. A trough line extending from Gangetic West Bengal to Madhya Maharashtra through Jharkhand, interior Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and Marathwada is also active, the regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar informed on Tuesday.

Odisha is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms at several places between October 6 and 9, with isolated heavy rainfall also possible during the period.
