Bhubaneswar, Oct 1: A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the Andaman Sea around October 13, according to the Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar.
The weather system is expected to begin with the formation of an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the North Andaman Sea around October 12. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Andaman Sea around October 13, the IMD said on Thursday.
Low Chance Of Further Intensification
The IMD has indicated that the system could move towards the southern Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal around October 15.
However, the possibility of the low-pressure area intensifying into a depression around that period remains low, according to the forecast.
The weather system is expected to begin with the formation of an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the North Andaman Sea around October 12. Under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Andaman Sea around October 13, the IMD said on Thursday.

The IMD has indicated that the system could move towards the southern Bay of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal around October 15.
However, the possibility of the low-pressure area intensifying into a depression around that period remains low, according to the forecast.

Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph in several districts of Odisha.
Till 8:30 am on October 2, the weather agency forecasts thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph are very likely at one or two places in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts.
For the period from 8.30 am on October 2 to 8.30 am on October 3, such weather is very likely at one or two places over Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada districts.
