New Delhi, Jan 13: The marital dispute between Olympic bronze medallist Mary Kom and her estranged husband Karung Onkholer (Onler) has taken a dramatic turn, with Onler publicly rejecting her claims of financial fraud and property loss.


Mary Kom recently alleged that Onler cheated her out of crores of rupees, mortgaged her property, and mismanaged her finances, leading to the loss of land she had purchased with her own earnings.


She said she chose to speak out after years of silence, claiming that “the slander had gone too far.”


In response, Onler has strongly denied the accusations, describing them as baseless and defamatory. He countered with allegations of his own, claiming that the breakdown of their marriage began over a decade ago due to Mary Kom’s alleged extramarital relationships.


Onler asserted that he possesses WhatsApp messages dating back to 2013 as proof of her involvement with a junior boxer, and further alleged that she has been in another relationship since 2017 linked to her boxing academy.


The couple, both from Manipur, were married for more than 20 years before their separation in 2023.


Their split shocked many in the sporting community, where they had long been seen as a strong partnership both personally and professionally.


The ongoing dispute has now spilled into the public domain, with each side presenting conflicting narratives. While Mary Kom insists she was financially exploited during her marriage, Onler maintains that her allegations are fabricated and motivated by personal grievances.
