Cuttack, Nov 29: The upcoming India-South Africa T20 match at the iconic Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, on December 9 will not only be a sporting spectacle but also a celebration of Odia culture and identity.
From the airport to hotels and the stadium, players and visitors will witness vibrant displays of Odisha’s heritage through cultural programmes arranged by the state government.
At a preparatory meeting held at the Odisha Cricket
Association conference hall, Cuttack RDC Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar informed that
multiple departments have been directed to ensure smooth arrangements. Reports
on readiness were submitted by officials from all concerned departments.

✨To manage the large crowds expected on match day, a special Fans Park will be set up in Cuttack. Commissionerate Police is preparing extensive security measures, including traffic control, green corridors, crowd management, and player safety. Fire services will strengthen fire safety arrangements, while the DCP will oversee crowd control at ticket counters. Health facilities for spectators will also be prioritized.
Floodlight operations will be closely monitored with backup systems in place. Special bus services from Bhubaneswar to Cuttack will run from early morning on match day to facilitate smooth travel for fans. Additionally, sanitation, food supply inside the stadium, road repairs, barricading, control rooms, and drinking water arrangements are being streamlined.
The RDC emphasized that every department has been instructed
to execute their responsibilities effectively to ensure a safe and enjoyable
experience for both players and spectators. The meeting was attended by the
Cuttack District Collector, DCP, fire officials, health officers, central
security forces, and OCA representatives.
