Bengal Politics / Amit Shah Lays Blueprint for 1st BJP Govt in Bengal; Links State Victory to India’s National Security

Key Points
Bhubaneswar: In a historic address to the newly elected BJP Legislature Party in Kolkata after anointing Nandigram Tiger Suvendu Adhikari as Bengal’s 1st BJP CM, Union Home Minister Amit Shah Friday laid out a definitive "blueprint" for West Bengal’s first BJP government. Shah framed the party's victory not just as a political shift, but as a critical mandate for national security, asserting that a stable, infiltration-free Bengal is the bedrock of India’s internal safety.
The Blueprint: Building 'Sonar Bangla'
Shah emphasized that the new government’s primary mission is to restore the "lost glory" of the state. He outlined a roadmap centered on five pillars:
1. National Security & Border Integrity
Linking the state’s governance directly to India's safety, Shah declared that the "chicken’s neck" corridor and the porous borders would no longer be vulnerable.
The 45-Day Promise: He reiterated the commitment to provide land for border fencing within 45 days of the government taking charge.
Zero Infiltration: "A win in Bengal is essential for national security. From today, the route for illegal infiltrators is permanently closed," Shah stated, signaling a massive crackdown on cross-border movement.
2. Women’s Safety & Citizenship Security
Shah promised a paradigm shift from "fear to trust."
33% Reservation: The blueprint includes a 1/3rd reservation for women in all state government jobs, including the police force.
Anti-Mafia Task Force: A 100-day roadmap was announced to dismantle the "mafia raj" in the coal, sand, and stone sectors, ensuring the safety of every ordinary citizen.

✨3. Cultural & Linguistic Renaissance
Countering the "outsider" narrative, Shah vowed that the BJP government would take Bengali culture, art, and language to new heights globally.
Plans were mentioned for a 'Vande Mataram Museum' and dedicated centers to promote the legacy of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Swami Vivekananda, and Gurudev Tagore and a theatre training institute on the lines of Film and Television Institute of India in Pune.
4. Re-Industrialization & Economic Reboot
To reverse the industrial flight of previous decades, Shah proposed a "new industrial plan":
The Singur Model: A dedicated industrial park in Singur split between MSMEs and large-scale industries.
Greater Kolkata: A plan to transform Kolkata into a global financial and urban hub through the "Greater Kolkata" initiative and expanded Metro connectivity.
5. Institutional Growth
Shah promised the establishment of new premier institutions, including AIIMS, IIT, and IIMs, specifically focusing on the underdeveloped districts of North Bengal to ensure balanced growth.
"Victory of Trust over Fear"
Reflecting on the election results, Shah credited the victory to the "sacrifice and resilience" of 321 party workers. He concluded by naming Suvendu Adhikari as the Leader of the Legislature Party, tasking him with executing this blueprint to transition Bengal from a "era of fear" into a "era of development."
"The
people of Bengal have spoken. They have chosen the path of Prime Minister
Modi’s 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' to secure not just their own future, but the
future of India."
