Train Mishap / Young Dentist Dies After Being Hit By Train in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Sep 22: A young dentist was killed after allegedly being struck by a train near the Kalarahanga level crossing here in Odisha on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Dr. Amrut Jena. He was employed at a private hospital as a dental practitioner, sources said.

According to sources, Dr. Jena was either attempting to cross the railway tracks or walking alongside them when the speeding train hit him. The impact was so severe that his body was reportedly scattered across the tracks, leaving a grim scene at the site.

After getting information, Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the mortal remains. The body was later sent to Capital Hospital in the city for post-mortem examination.

Family members were informed immediately, and the news has left them devastated. Colleagues described Dr. Jena as a dedicated professional with a promising career ahead.

Officials said that the exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the autopsy report is released. At present, it remains unclear whether Dr. Jena was crossing the tracks or walking nearby when the collision occurred.

Railway authorities said further inquiry would determine whether negligence or misjudgment led to the accident. Meanwhile, the GRP has urged commuters to exercise caution near railway tracks, particularly at busy crossings such as Kalarahanga, which has witnessed several mishaps in the past.

The accident has sent shockwaves across the medical fraternity and the local community.
