Railways / Train Services in Odisha Affected Amid Chakradharpur Division Modernisation Works

Bhubaneswar, Sep 21: Train services in Odisha are set to be disrupted as the Railways undertakes safety-related modernisation works in the Chakradharpur Division. The temporary measures are necessary to strengthen infrastructure and ensure safer operations across one of the busiest railway corridors, officials said on Monday.

Long-Distance Train Cancellations

Several long-distance trains will remain cancelled on specific dates. The Sambalpur–Jammu Tawi Express (18309) will not run on September 22, 24 and 26, while its return service (18310) stands cancelled on September 25, 27 and 29.

The Howrah–Kantabanji Ispat Express (22861) will be off service on September 25, 27, 29 and October 1–2, with the Kantabanji–Howrah Ispat Express (22862) cancelled on September 26, 28, 30 and October 2–3.

Other affected trains include the Howrah–Junagarh Road Express (12871) on September 26, 28 and 30, and its return service (12872) on September 27, 29 and October 1. The Gorakhpur–Sambalpur Maurya Express (15028) will not run on October 1, while the Sambalpur–Gorakhpur Maurya Express (15027) is cancelled on October 3. The Puri–Hatia–Puri Tapaswini Express (18451/18452) will remain cancelled on October 2 from both ends.

Diversions in Key Routes

In addition to cancellations, select trains will operate on diverted routes. The New Delhi–Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express (20818), scheduled to depart on September 27, will run via Adra–Medinipur–Hijli–Bhadrak–Cuttack instead of its usual Chakradharpur–Rourkela–Jharsuguda route. The Puri–Yog Nagari Rishikesh Utkal Express (18477), departing on September 30 and October 1, will be diverted through Sambalpur City–Jharsuguda Road–Ib instead of the Tata–Rourkela corridor.

Advisory for Passengers

Passengers have been advised to plan journeys accordingly and check updates through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) or official railway enquiry services before travel. Authorities stressed that the temporary changes are part of a broader modernisation drive aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency.
