Puri, Nov 27: After six years, the Gundicha Temple in Puri is set to reopen to devotees from December 1, with the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) finalising entry fee, timings and access rules following an on-site inspection.
Members of the SJTA's Managing Committee and the technical core committee inspected the temple on Thursday, a day after Jagannath Temple's Chief Administrator, Arabinda Padhee, reviewed the preparations.
As per the plan, devotees will be allowed entry on a trial basis with a Rs 10 fee per person. Entry will remain free for children below 5, elderly devotees above 80, and persons with disabilities.
The temple will open daily for 12 hours -- from 6 am to 6 pm, while winter timings (November–February) will be 6 am to 5 pm. Both entry and exit will be through the 'Singhadwara' (Lion Gate), and the team has examined the ramp facility for differently-abled devotees.

To ease crowd movement, the SJTA will provide free mobile and footwear stands. A final Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be issued after the next inspection, paving the way for full-scale darshan arrangements.
Closed since 2019, the Gundicha Temple will now be managed directly by the SJTA.
